Information for Real Estate Educators and Proprietary Real Estate Schools

The Residential Financing Council licenses local real estate Schools and Realtor Associations to offer the complete RFS Designation Program.

As Self-Study Course

The RFS CD-ROM Self-Study program provides an opportunity for real estate Schools to offer the designation course without any investment in classroom space or instructor time. Schools offering the Self-study program are also authorized to administer the RFS written exam on site. (An opportunity to familiarize local Realtors with your School’s other offerings.)

There is no upfront investment, no inventories to stock. All materials are shipped directly to the students enrolled through your school.

As Classroom Course

Schools may also be authorized to offer the designation program as a regular classroom offering. The course may be taught in 2-day format, or the sessions may be offered over a longer period of time, at the school’s option. Upon completion of the formal classroom course, the school may administer the RFS written exam immediately upon completion of the formal classroom course or on a separate date. (Schools licensed to offer the course are also authorized as official examination proctor sites and may advertise the exam dates for any local Realtors who have taken the course via home study or through other on-line network offerings.)

The Instructor Kit
The Instructor Kit includes an instructor’s version of the classroom text, course objectives, teaching notes and a complete set of course videos.

Students who take the course by home study can make arrangements to take the written examination through the school through which they have registered, or may select a local proctor site (e.g. mortgage company, title company, real estate board, etc.) to allow them to take the exam without unnecessary travel. The examination materials are mailed directly to the proctor, along with instructions for administering the exam and returning the completed materials to the Council for grading.
The Student Kit
The Student Kit includes the classroom text materials and a complete set of video training programs that cover all of the material in the course. Classroom facilitators are encouraged to use segments of the video material during the classroom presentations. Students are encouraged to review the videos while taking the course and preparing for the exam, and to use the video materials as a reference library, to “brush up” on the skills and information taught in the course and to review periodically as problems or opportunities arise in their day to day practice of their profession.
